30 moments from our 30th anniversary year

It's been an incredible year for us at Bowel Cancer UK, made all the more successful thanks to our wonderful supporters.
It seems rather fitting that so many momentous achievements happened in 2017, our 30th anniversary year. We've collected 30 moments that we think give just a glimpse into all our fantastic accomplishments:
1. Deborah James and Deborah Alsina MBE were on BBC Breakfast on the first day of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month
2. The Health Promotion Team in Scotland were delighted to recruit and train nine more volunteers
3. Geoff Alcoe and his 52 Dedham runners raised nearly £24,000 in the Dedham 10k
4. We were chosen as charity partner for three of the Ultra Challenge Series: London to Brighton; Cotswolds Way; and the first ever Jurassic Coast challenge
5. We held a joint training day with World Cancer Research Fund for screening practitioners
6. Rupert Evans (known for The Man In The High Castle, American Pastoral) became a patron
7. We have delivered 26 talks in 19 fire stations across north west Northern Ireland reaching over 250 fire fighters
8. Chris Daniel started his 18,000 miles virtual cycle around the world in memory of his wife Rita
9. A team of 9 colleagues from HGST/Western Digital took on the Euro City Cycling Challenge and raised over £25,000
10. The lovely colorectal nurses from Northern Trust raised over £2,800 from a coffee morning
11. Gerry Boylan fundraised by climbing Croagh Patrick in his bare feet as his dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer
12. Chiltern Railway chose us as their charity partner of the year
13. McClure Solicitors partnered with us to provide a free will writing service
14. We launched our Get Personal report to help unlock treatments for people diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer
15. 16 supporters took part in The Big Jump raising over £15,000
16. Selected as charity partner for Do It for Charity/Skyline London to Paris cycle in September 2018
17. Catalyst Inc chose us as their charity partner
18. To kick start Bowel Cancer Awareness Month the Scotland team took to Glasgow City Centre with a giant inflatable bowel
19. Our fantastic CEO Deborah Alsina, MBE was awarded Charity Chief Executive of the Year in the Third Sector Excellence Awards 2017
20. On World Cancer Day, we worked with nine other charities to unite everyone in a powerful life changing act – wearing a Unity Band®
21. Our Step up for 30 challenge had almost 200 people sign up and together raise almost £28,000
22. We announced our first Bowel Cancer UK and Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellow
23. We joined Prostate Cancer UK and a coalition of health charities to hand in a petition, signed by nearly 30,000 people
24. #RowAMarathon raised over £15,000. 21 companies took part to row the distance of a marathon
25. Our first Walk Together in September was a huge success, raising an incredible £50,000
26. Supporter Deborah James, in partnership with The Sun Online, was live at the Facebook Studios
27. We launched our 'What is Bowel Cancer?' booklet
28. Donations from corporate partners Edwards & Co reached over £60,000
29. Our long awaited report ‘Finding the Key to the Cures: a plan to end bowel cancer by 2050’ was launched
30. We were the nominated charity at this year’s star-studded Empire Magazine Awards
And let's not forget... We announced our merger with Beating Bowel Cancer!
