There's no right or wrong way to feel after a diagnosis and everyone reacts differently. We're here to help you and your loved ones understand your diagnosis and treatment and provide support every step of the way.
Here is a list of the different ways we can be there for you after your diagnosis.
Understanding your diagnosis
- Information about your diagnosis - Find out more about how bowel cancer is diagnosed, the tests you might have and what happens when you visit your GP
- Coping with diagnosis - Information and guidance on waiting for appointments, telling people about a diagnosis and how to cope on your own
- Coping emotionally - Support with emotional wellbeing for you and your loved ones. This includes information on managing fear, anxiety and depression, sleep and fatigue and your feelings after treatment
- Our publications - Resources to support you through your bowel cancer journey. Whether it's help to guide you through diagnosis and treatment, questions to ask at appointments or information about living well with and beyond bowel cancer
Support for you
- Our online communities - Our forum and Facebook groups are welcoming places to ask questions, share experiences and support each other
- Support groups - A network of local support group partners across the UK
- Ask the Nurse - Do you have questions or concerns about bowel cancer? Our friendly, experienced colorectal nurses are here to help. Simply send them an email with your question and they’ll get back to you within two working days
- Real life stories - Read the stories of others who have been or are currently affected by bowel cancer
- Our Peer Support Line - Our Peer Support Line gives you the chance to talk to someone who understands what it's like to have bowel cancer, as well as to find out about other services that may be helpful
