Equipped with knowledge, determination and guidance, our senior leadership team supports and drives our organisation forward to reaching our goal of saving lives and improving the quality of life for all those affected by bowel cancer.
Genevieve Edwards – Chief Executive
Genevieve has extensive voluntary sector experience and has held Board level communications and influencing positions in health charities since 2004, including as Executive Director for External Affairs and Nations for the MS Society, UK Director of Policy, Partnerships and Communications at Marie Stopes International and Executive Director of Communications, Fundraising and Health Improvement at Terrence Higgins Trust. Genevieve was Trustee of Neurological Alliance until the end of 2019.
Luke Squires – Director of Fundraising
Luke has 20 years' experience of working in both the commercial and charity sectors. He joined us in June 2012 as the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships and joined the senior leadership team two years later as Director of Fundraising. Luke specialises in corporate, business development and relationship fundraising.
Dr Lisa Wilde – Director of Research and External Affairs
Lisa is a research scientist by training and, since leaving the lab, has spent the last 15 years leading on research management for cancer research charities. Lisa's expertise lies in research strategy, science communications and science policy. She oversees our Communications, Research, and Policy and Campaigns functions.
Sarah Weston – Interim Director of Services
Sarah has over 20 years’ experience in the health and charity sectors. She joined Bowel Cancer UK in October 2021 as Head of Services and Support and has joined our senior leadership team 3 years later as Interim Director of Services and Support. Sarah specialises in the development and delivery of patient support services, delivering impactful health awareness raising activities and engaging with health care professionals to improve outcomes.
Sue Pankhurst – Director of Finance
Sue is a highly experienced strategic leader and qualified as an accountant in 2000 having trained with Deloitte in London. In her early career, Sue worked in the commercial sector but has chosen to specialise in the charity sector since 2014. Sue has held director-level roles at a variety of charities, including the Royal Osteoporosis Society and Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity prior to joining Bowel Cancer UK in 2025. Sue has also been a Trustee and Treasurer for Bath Cats & Dogs Home since 2021. Sue is a values-led compassionate leader who has a desire to make a positive difference to an organisation, team and working culture.
Anna Hayman – Director of Marketing, Communications and Engagement
Anna has worked in brand marketing, communications and partnerships roles in the commercial, charity and agency sectors for more than 20 years. After time at Comic Relief, Samaritans and Diabetes UK, Anna joined Bowel Cancer UK’s senior leadership team in February 2025. She specialises in creating audience-centred communications that inspire change, and in building long-term relationships to deliver mutual value.
