What is the Walk 60 Miles in October Challenge?

The challenge is to walk 60 miles in the month of October. To help you plan your month, that’s roughly 15 miles a week, just under two miles a day. Spread your walks across the month or start with shorter walks every day and work your way up throughout the month. Make the challenge work for you.

Every 11 minutes someone is diagnosed with bowel cancer. This October, walk with us and make a difference.

How to take part 

  • Step 1 - Register for freeSign up using our quick form to receive your Bowel Cancer UK t-shirt and welcome pack. 
  • Step 2 – Join the community – connect with fellow walkers in the Facebook group, ask questions, and share your walking and fundraising updates! 
  • Step 3 – Walk 60 Miles in October and fundraise – Raise £150 and you will receive a challenge medal!

What is Walk 60 Miles in October?


Walk 60 Miles in October is a virtual challenge. Help raise funds and awareness for those affected by bowel cancer by walking throughout the month of October. 
 

You can walk wherever and whenever it suits you and complete your challenge at your own pace.

What rewards will I receive during my fundraising challenge?

 

  • A free t-shirt after signing up and creating a fundraising page  
  • Raise £150 and earn an exclusive challenge medal 
  • Prize draws will also take place throughout the challenge  
Do I need to complete my challenge at a certain time?


No, you can walk whenever you like — during the school run, on your lunch break, or over the weekend, any walking counts.
 

We just ask you to take part between Thursday 1 October and Saturday 31 October 2026.

How do I fundraise?


When you fill out the form to sign up, it'll automatically create a JustGiving fundraising page. You’ll be able to then share this page with your family and friends and begin receiving donations.
 

You can also use our sponsorship form to collect donations offline.

How long does it take to receive my rewards?


All items will be posted out to you 2nd class and tracked within 7-10 working days.

What is my fundraising target?


We ask everyone to raise a minimum of £150 to help us continue to fund our vital services and lifesaving research.

What if I don’t hit my fundraising target?


Don’t worry if you don’t reach your fundraising target, every contribution counts and we sincerely appreciate any support you’ve provided.
