Managing your grant
This page has everything that you need to manage your research grant with us, from using Flexigrant and submitting reports to requesting changes, sending invoices and telling us about your publications.
And if you’re ever unsure about something, just get in touch with the Research team. We’re here to help you.
Flexigrant
We use Flexigrant to manage all our research grants. It’s where you can access your grant record, submit reports and keep your personal information up to date.
You can log in using the same details you used when you applied for your grant.
If you have any problems accessing Flexigrant, email us at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to help.
Reporting on your grant
We’ll ask you to complete reports throughout and after your grant so we can understand how your research is progressing and the difference our funding is helping to make.
This includes:
- annual reports while your grant is active
- a final report when your grant ends
- follow-up reports two and five years after your grant ends.
You’ll complete all your reports through Flexigrant.
If a report is overdue, we may need to pause invoice payments until we’ve received and reviewed it.
We may also get in touch from time to time for a short update that we can share with donors who are supporting your research.
Changes to your grant
We know research doesn’t always go exactly to plan. If you need to make a change to your grant, please get in touch with us before making the change so we can talk it through with you.
This might include:
- delaying your start date or requesting a no-cost extension
- changes to the research team or host institution
- moving funds between budget headings (virement)
- other changes to your original research plans.
Email [email protected], letting us know what you’d like to change and why.
Invoicing
We pay invoices to your host institution quarterly in arrears.
Please send invoices to [email protected], rather than directly to our Finance team. We’ll check them against the costs agreed for your grant before arranging payment.
To help us process your invoice, please include:
- your grant reference with us and PO number
- the name of the principal investigator(s)
- the period the invoice covers
- a breakdown of the costs being claimed.
Publishing your research
Please tell us about any papers coming from your research before they’re published. We’d love to help share your work through our website and social media, and knowing about publications in advance gives us time to plan.
Please send us a confidential copy of your paper, ideally when you submit it for publication.
Please acknowledge us as a funder in any publications arising from your grant. You can use the following wording:
“This work was funded by Bowel Cancer UK through grant [insert grant reference].”
We’d love to hear about other developments from your research too, whether that’s a conference presentation, poster, new collaboration, further funding or something else that’s come from the work.

We’re here to help and want your research to be a success.
