Ask the Nurse
Do you have questions or concerns about bowel cancer? Our friendly, experienced colorectal nurses are here to help. Simply send them an email with your question and they’ll get back to you within two working days.
This service is free for anyone to use. If you have a question about bowel cancer, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Watch the video above to hear Claire Coughlan, one of our Ask the Nurse nurses, talk about what our Ask the Nurse service is.
Should I talk to the nurses?
The Ask the Nurse service doesn't have access to your medical information and cannot give specific clinical advice. They can provide information, answer specific questions and help guide you towards next steps.
If you have symptoms of bowel cancer, it doesn’t always mean you have bowel cancer, but it’s still important to find out what’s causing them. Don’t wait for a reply from our nurses, go and visit your GP.
This is for non-urgent enquiries. If you're feeling unwell please contact your hospital team or GP, or in an emergency, call 999.
How does it work?
When you send an email to nurse@bowelcanceruk.org.uk or click the ‘Write to our nurses’ button above, one of our nurses will read your email and write you a response within two working days. If you haven’t heard from us by then, please check your junk or spam folder.
The response might suggest where you can find further support, or provide an answer to your question. If you have more questions after their response, you can reply to our nurses. Of course you can also contact your GP, NHS 111 or your healthcare team.
How else can I get support?
We’re here to help. We have a range of support services for anyone affected by bowel cancer, from our information and resources to our online community.
