Annual General Meeting, Tuesday 30 January 2024, Portcullis House 

The APPG on Bowel Cancer met in parliament on Tuesday 30 January 2024 to formally hold the group’s Annual General Meeting. Parliamentarians approved the income and expenditure statement for 2023/24. They also elected Ben Lake MP (Chair), Rebecca Long-Bailey (Co-Chair), Steve Brine MP (Officer) and Gerald Jones MP (Officer).

Five Ways We Can Help Beat Bowel Cancer, Tuesday 30 January 2024, 1.30pm – 3.00pm, Portcullis House 

The APPG on Bowel Cancer met in Parliament on Tuesday 30 January 2023. The group hosted a drop-in event for parliamentarians to introduce them to the five key ways we’re trying to build a world where no one dies of bowel cancer. This covered improvements in the NHS Lynch syndrome testing pathway and, the importance of funding research. They also looked at, how we can better deliver early diagnosis, tackle health inequalities and raise awareness. Parliamentarians heard from Professor Matt Rutter, Dr. Eva Morris and Dr. Kevin Monahan.

How an NHS workforce plan can drive earlier diagnosis through cancer screening, Tuesday 11 July 2023, 5-6:30pm, House of Commons

The APPG on Bowel Cancer met in Parliament on Tuesday 11 July 2023. There was a panel discussion as well as a Q&A session. The discussion was around workforce challenges currently affecting bowel cancer outcomes. The panel also talked about how an NHS workforce strategy could help improve access to screening and earlier diagnosis of bowel cancer, when it’s most treatable and curable.

Launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Bowel Cancer, Wednesday 19 April 2023, 1-2pm, House of Commons

On Wednesday 19 April 2023, the APPG on Bowel Cancer celebrated its launch at a Parliamentary event during Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. The event brought together bowel cancer patients, clinicians, representatives of Bowel Cancer UK and Parliamentarians to hear about why the APPG has been set up and its priorities for the year ahead.

Inaugural meeting, Tuesday 25 October 2022

The APPG on Bowel Cancer met in parliament on Tuesday 25 October 2022 to formally establish the group. MPs who attended had the opportunity to talk to Bowel Cancer UK's Chief Executive, Genevieve Edwards, about the key issues facing people affected by bowel cancer and the reasons why the APPG was set up.
