Letter to the Chancellor ahead of the 2023 Autumn Statement

Chair of the APPG on Bowel Cancer, Ben Lake MP wrote to the Chancellor ahead of the Autumn Statement.
In the letter, Ben Lake MP set out the priorities of the APPG. He suggested what extra funding would need to be given by the UK government to the NHS to improve bowel cancer survival.
Meeting summary: How an NHS workforce plan can help make sure more bowel cancers are diagnosed earlier through screening

This meeting included a panel discussion on the workforce challenges which currently impact bowel cancer outcomes.
There was also a discussion about how an NHS workforce strategy could lead to improvements in access to earlier diagnosis, in particular through the optimisation of screening.
Letter to Helen Whately MP, Minister of State for Care

Following the official launch of the APPG on Bowel Cancer, Chair Ben Lake MP and Vice Chairs Rebecca Long-Bailey MP and Gerald Jones MP sent a letter to Helen Whately MP, Minister of State for Care.
The aim of the letter was to introduce the APPG and offer to help with the development of the upcoming Major Conditions Strategy.
Celebratory launch of the APPG in Parliament

The APPG on Bowel Cancer celebrated its launch at a Parliamentary event during Bowel Cancer Awareness Month in April.
We were delighted to bring together bowel cancer patients, clinicians, representatives of Bowel Cancer UK and Parliamentarians to hear about why the APPG had been set up and the group's priorities for the year ahead.
