Position: Press Officer, 12 months fixed term contract until March 2023. Part time three days per week, 21 hours per week. One of these days must be a Friday
Reporting to: Press Manager
Salary: £28,000 per annum pro rata (plus London weighting if applicable)
Location: Home-based across UK
Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
We're looking for a Press Officer to support the development and delivery of the organisation's media relations and PR, celebrity and patron management and case studies.
Our press work plays an essential role in helping reach more people affected by bowel cancer, raising the profile of the organisation in the media and building the charity's reputation as the leading expert on the disease.
You'll work across the organisation to recruit, gather and steward case studies, respond to media enquiries providing information and materials in a timely manner and write and distribute press releases, statements, Q&As and other media materials.
You'll have experience of working in a press office role or the media, and be proactive, creative and enthusiastic. You'll be able to manage a busy workload and keep on top of multiple projects, while being sensitive and empathetic when liaising with supporters, patients and their families. Most importantly, you'll have the desire to succeed and to make a difference to the lives of everyone affected by bowel cancer.
