Never Too Young to do something amazing
In February, Alfie, aged 10, had his hair shaved off at the Station Hair Salon in front of his friends and family. This was to support family friend Matt Hodgson who sadly passed away in January this year.
Alfie decided off his own back, that he wanted to do something to raise money and support the cause and decided on shaving his hair. His original target was to raise £50. He had no idea how much support he would get from everyone including total strangers who felt moved to donate raising over £1,000.
Alfie’s mum Jo said: “We are so proud of him, and amazed at the support he's had. He wanted to do this as we lost a friend, Matt Hodgson, to bowel cancer on 21 January. Whilst battling cancer, Matt was so passionate about this charity that he raised over £22,000 taking part in the London to Paris cycle ride in April 2016 with his team. He never let his diagnosis stop him or dampen his spirits, a real inspiration and he inspired Alfie. Alfie had a little help from his Dad to design a sponsorship form (which he has taken into school) and has already raised over £1,000 on his Just Giving Page.”
Thanks Alfie, we think you are very brave – well done.
