Our number one tip is to set up an online sponsorship page as soon as possible by visiting JustGiving. It only takes a few minutes to set up your page.
All you need to do is:
- create a page
- select your type of fundraising event from the list or ‘do your own thing’
Be sure to personalise your page with lots of photos and content, and make sure you tell everyone why you’re supporting us. It’s your chance to share your personal connection to bowel cancer. People will donate more if they know why you’re fundraising.
Similarly, photos help bring your page to life. Why not use a picture of you in one of our lovely t-shirts or running vests? If you’re doing the event in aid of a loved one then you could use a picture of the two of you together.
Add a target: Pages with targets raise 46% more than those that don’t. Be brave and let everyone know you’re aiming high.
Share your page on social media
Once your page is good to go, spread the word on social media and email your web link to friends, family and colleagues. If it’s OK with your employer, add the link to your email signature at work.
You can also blog about any training or events you’re doing. Your friends are more likely to sponsor you when they see all of the effort you’re putting in. Don’t forget to thank them via social media too, you might even get some donations from friends of friends.

The final push
Some people will hold-off sponsoring you until the event is over so don’t forget to share your success with all of your friends and family afterwards. In fact, you could increase your fundraising by a massive 20%. Who knows, you might even go above your target.
Money raised on your donation page automatically transfers to us and updates your personal fundraising total. There’s nothing more you need to do.
