National Colorectal Cancer Nurses Network Education Advisory Group
The NCCNN Education Advisory Group is committed to working collaboratively to support colorectal cancer nurses, raising their voices and ensuring their essential contributions are recognised. Through policy influence and advocacy, we aim to shape healthcare strategies that enhance the profession, empower nurses and ultimately improve patient care.
Advisory group members are healthcare professionals working in secondary care settings across the UK supporting those affected by bowel cancer. We ensure that our offering to the NCCNN aligns with the needs of its members, from supporting evaluation and monitoring to contributing to the development of guidance and resources for the network.

Filipe Carvalho
Nurse Consultant in Colorectal Disease, Homerton Trust and Chair of the National Colorectal Cancer Nurses Network
Filipe is a Nurse Consultant in Colorectal Disease at Homerton Hospital. He provides clinical and professional leadership and plays a key role in implementing the Trust's cancer workforce strategy, while ensuring compliance with cancer waiting time targets.
Before joining the Homerton, Filipe spent 13 years at the Royal Marsden Hospital where he cared for patients with advanced colorectal cancer.
Filipe is a member of the National Cancer Research Institute Colorectal Group and holds both an MSc and a Post Graduate Diploma. Filipe has also published extensively on topics including advanced nursing practice and colorectal cancer care.

Manju Khanna
Senior Macmillan Colorectal Cancer CNS, London North West University Hospital Trust
Manju is a Senior Macmillan Colorectal Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist and has been actively involved in driving NHS England’s strategic vision and change agenda. She's an accomplished healthcare professional with 30 years of experience at St Mark’s in colorectal and complex colorectal cancer patient care.
Manju takes pride in leading training and providing an environment conducive to enhancing staff development and achieving improved patient outcomes and experience.
Manju is very passionate about supporting national and local cancer charities and supports them with cancer awareness, prevention, health promotion and reviewing patients' information. She provides regular ward teachings to nursing and support staff within St Mark's and presents at national conferences.

Laura Monje-Garcia
Clinical Research Fellow and the former National Lead Nurse for the Lynch Syndrome Project, St Mark’s
Laura Monje-Garcia is a Nurse Practitioner who works at the St Mark's Centre for Familial Intestinal Cancer, which embeds the polyposis registry, the family cancer and Lynch syndrome services. She's also the former national lead nurse for the Lynch syndrome project.
In addition to being a nurse, Laura is a health psychologist and has been working with patients living with inherited conditions since 2012. She's currently completing a part-time fellowship looking into the psychological experience of living with a genetic diagnosis.

Rebecca Costello
Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
Rebecca has been a Colorectal CNS at Stockport NHS FT for 18 years. She's passionate about patient centred care and supporting patients not only through their diagnosis but into follow-up and addressing patients’ needs living with and beyond cancer.
She has a keen interest in education and professional development and has recently completed a year secondment as part of GM Cancer Workforce and Education team looking at implementing ACCEND with CNS teams and developing pre-registration placements in oncology. Rebecca feels passionate about improving the care of colorectal cancer patients' through the development of the services and the education of CNS’s and nurses involved in bowel cancer patients care.

Tracey Privett
Lead Colorectal Specialist Nurse, Oxford University Hospitals
Tracey is Lead Colorectal Specialist Nurse at Oxford University Hospitals. She manages a large team of colorectal cancer, stoma care and pelvic floor nurses and has an active clinical role within the team. Tracey enjoys the variety of her role as it embeds patient contact alongside management aspects. Tracy also has a role within the Thames Valley Cancer Alliance.
Tracey has a BSc in Cancer Care, a Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Practice and has recently completed a MSc module in the Fundamentals of Colorectal Nursing.
In 2019 Tracey was honoured to win the Gary Logue Award (nominated by patients). She's also an active committee member of the Association of Coloproctology Nurses (ACPN). Tracey has delivered presentations at a number of conferences and regional meetings.

Leanne Osgood
Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy
Leanne is currently working as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) with a specialist interest in colorectal cancer, having qualified in November 2022 with a MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. Leanne is responsible for assessing patients prior to SACT and prescribing the treatment and appropriate medication to support them with any toxicities they may experience. Prior to this Leanne worked as a Chemotherapy Support Sister.
Leanne works closely with her CNS colleagues to gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the colorectal pathway and the challenges faced by staff. Leanne has an interest in providing ongoing education for staff and has organised yearly Colorectal study days within her local trust. She has an interest in evaluating the information needs of both patients and colleagues and addressing how these needs can be met.

Linda Sherwood
Team Lead of the Colorectal CNS Team, Edinburgh Cancer Centre
Linda is the Team Lead of the Colorectal Cancer Specialist Nursing team at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre. Prior to this she has worked in both clinical and research nursing roles. Linda is a strong advocate of the value of nursing research to address issues pertinent to patients living with cancer and completed her PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 2020.
Linda joined the UK Oncology Nursing Society board in 2023, where she is currently Joint Communications Lead. Linda is involved within the Clinical Academic partnership within the Edinburgh Cancer Centre, is a clinical supervisor for the MSc in Clinical Trials at The University of Edinburgh and is also an external marker for The School of Nursing within The University of Edinburgh.

Angel Philip
Colorectal Cancer Nurse Specialist, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
Angel has 12 years’ nursing experience in both India and the UK. Prior to becoming a CNS, she completed an MSc in Mental Health Nursing where she developed an interest in psychosocial aspects of cancer, leading her to a staff nurse and educator role in the intensive therapy unit in New Delhi. From 2015 she started training at St Marks Hospital in London where she began mentoring student nurses, later becoming a Team Sister managing the continuing education of the ward team such as coordinating study days and developing training.
Working as a CNS since 2021 for the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, Angel is a key worker in her MDT, supporting the research and education board within her trust and running the nurse-led colorectal cancer surveillance programme. Throughout her career, Angel has shown a passion for continuing her own education and supporting others in their development.

Caroline Trezise
Colorectal Cancer Nurse Specialist, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
Caroline began her career in surgery overseas in 1994, before moving to South Wales where she has worked in the Colorectal Department at the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board for almost 26 years. As a ward sister Caroline helped implement the ERAS programme at University Hospital Wales, which she has continued to support to ensure education is updated and ongoing. More recently she helped set up the new All Wales Peritoneal Malignancy Service. Caroline was the winner of the Gary Logue Award nominated by colleagues in 2024, which brought exposure to the service and her work to improve patient pathways.
Throughout her career Caroline has worked hard to ensure patients have the best experience possible at a difficult time in their lives. With her experience across the patient journey, she would like to share her knowledge to keep improving and listening to patient voices to ensure they get the service they deserve.

Victoria Bartlett-Hunter
Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist, Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust
Victoria has been a CNS at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust for the last seven years. In this role, Victoria supports patients across both surgical and oncology pathways, offering care from initial diagnosis through treatment, follow-up and, when necessary, transition to end of life care. Her focus is on providing holistic as well as clinical support throughout each individual’s cancer journey. Victoria also leads two-week wait clinics, coordinating investigations for patients referred with suspected bowel cancer.
Since qualifying with a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing from the University of Leeds in 2008. Victoria has developed her clinical experience, including roles in general surgery, intensive care, the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and as a Stoma Care Clinical Nurse Specialist.
She's deeply committed to professional development and education and has a particular interest in the psychosexual impact of cancer treatment on bowel cancer patients. She recently completed an Introduction to Psychosexual Medicine course with the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine and is keen to continue education in this field.

Marisa Raquel Durao Portela de Lima
Colorectal Lead Nurse and Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Barts Health NHS Trust
Marisa is currently working as a Lead Nurse/Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Colorectal services, benign and cancer services. Her specialist interest is in colorectal cancer. Having completed her MSC in advanced clinical practice, Marisa is responsible for assessing patients on diagnosis, pre-surgery, post-surgery and during their surveillance pathway.
She assesses the patients in the clinics and wards and supports them through their pathway. By providing expert support emotionally, prescribing supplementary medication and liaising with the team to organise investigations. Prior to this, Marisa worked as an Advanced nurse practitioner in SACT and AOS where she was able to work closely with the acute oncology team and provided support in the SACT clinics assessing fitness for treatment as well as prescribing supplementary chemotherapy medication.
Marisa manages a large multi-site team of CNS's and makes sure that she works closely with them.
She has an interest in providing ongoing education for the clinical staff and has organised quarterly cancer study days within her local trust. She has an interest in developing the oncology nurses and CNS's developing the pathway and implementing the ACCEND framework.

Jacqui Peck
Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist, Lower GI Oncology HCA Healthcare UK
Jacquie has been a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Colorectal and Anal cancer since January 2004 in both the NHS and private sector. She was the Lead Nurse for Lower GI for London Cancer and North London Cancer Network and is currently leading the Lower GI nursing group for the HCA Tumour board. Her current post is a combined oncology/surgical post covering the HCA private hospitals in the W1 area.
During her time in post, she has developed protocols and databases to manage patient care from suspected cancer referral through to follow-up and is involved in research to improve ways of diagnosing/treating colorectal cancer. As well as running nurse-led follow-up, genetic colonoscopic screening for Lynch and FAP patients, and survivorship/symptom control clinics.
