We've been highly commended by the BMA Patient Information Awards 2019
We’re delighted to announce our ‘Younger People with Bowel Cancer: a guide for the under 50s’ has been highly commended by the British Medical Association (BMA) patient information awards.
The award, which gives recognition to accessible, well-designed and clinically balanced patient information, was presented to us on Tuesday 10 September at BMA House, London.
Rose Stone, Head of Support and Information at Bowel Cancer UK, says: “We’re honoured to receive this recognition for our ‘Younger People with Bowel Cancer: a guide for the under 50s’. Every year 2,500 younger people are diagnosed with bowel cancer, and we know from our research that information about the disease is often aimed at older people who are more likely to be diagnosed with bowel cancer. Providing high quality information that is evidence based is a vital part of our work to support people affected by the disease.”
This is not the first time our health information has been recognised by the BMA, last year our ‘Bowel cancer screening – a guide to the NHS bowel cancer screening programme in England’ was also highly commended.
In 2017, we were highly commended for two guides ‘Simple steps for good bowel health’ and ‘Your diet and lifestyle: living with and beyond bowel cancer guide’ (now called ‘Eating Well: a guide to diet and bowel cancer’).
The year before we won the BMA award for our ‘Your diet: living with and beyond bowel cancer guide’ and in 2014 we won the same award for our learning disability resource.
