We’re bringing our awareness roadshow to Newport
Friday 31 May 2024
This June, we’re inviting Newport locals to walk inside a giant inflatable bowel when it tours the city to raise awareness of bowel cancer and its symptoms.
The giant inflatable bowel — measuring nineteen feet by seven feet — is an interactive experience to demonstrate the various stages of bowel cancer, raise awareness of its symptoms, the importance of taking part in screening and good bowel health.
Our roadshow gives people a chance to ask any questions or share any worries about bowel cancer to one of our friendly and experienced staff and volunteers.
Come and chat to us on:
- Tuesday 4 June from 10am – 4pm outside Friars Walk Shopping Centre (John Frost Square, Newport NP20 1EA)
- Wednesday 5 June from 10am – 4pm outside Asda Superstore Pillgwenlly (Lower Dock Street, Newport, NP20 2BH)
- Thursday 6 June from 10am – 4pm outside Newport Retail Park (Newport Retail Park, Spytty Road, Newport, NP19 4QQ)
Genevieve Edwards, Chief Executive at Bowel Cancer UK, said: “We’re really looking forward to talking to lots of people in Newport about the disease, the importance of knowing its symptoms and why you should contact your GP as soon as you spot any signs. We'll be encouraging everyone who is eligible to take part in bowel cancer screening and talking about how people can reduce their risk of developing bowel cancer.
“We know that awareness of bowel cancer and its symptoms is quite low in Newport, so we hope our giant inflatable bowel is a fun way to break the ice and start having those lifesaving conversations.
“We’re here to welcome everyone to a tour of the giant inflatable bowel, answer any questions you have about your bowel health and signpost you for further support. No appointment necessary. See you inside!”
Our roadshows are funded by the BowelBabe Fund.
