Nominations are open for the Gary Logue Colorectal Nurse Awards
Thursday 25 June 2020
We are inviting you to nominate an outstanding colorectal cancer nurse for the sixth annual Gary Logue Colorectal Nurse Awards in September.
The awards will be presented at the virtual National Colorectal Cancer Nurses Network (NCCNN) get together on 16 September 2020.
We’re welcoming nominations from people who are cared for by, or working with, an exceptional colorectal cancer nurse. Two winners will each receive £300 towards their professional development.
The award was set up in memory of Gary Logue, who worked as a nurse for the charity and passed away in 2014, in honour of the contribution he made during his career.
Tracey Becker, winner of the 2019 award, says: “I was delighted to have been nominated for the Gary Logue Award in 2019, and was very proud knowing it came from a patient I’d supported through treatment. Just being nominated was fantastic, and given the calibre of the other nominees, I hadn’t expected to win.
The work we do can be incredibly stressful and demanding, and it’s often easier just to carry on , without having the time and space to reflect. Winning the Gary Logue Award gave me a chance to think about the positives in my practice and my career, and where I want to be in the future. It gave me validation to do something I had wanted to do for a while. Earlier this year, I decided to apply for a position at a different Trust after many years of working at my local hospital and am really looking forward to starting in my new position in the summer.”
The deadline for nominations is Friday 31 July 2020.
