We’re bringing our giant inflatable bowel to Middlesbrough

We’re excited to be bringing our awareness roadshow to Middlesbrough and will be inviting locals to walk inside a giant inflatable bowel to learn about bowel cancer — the fourth most common cancer in the UK.

The giant inflatable bowel, measuring nineteen feet by seven feet, about the same size as a family campervan, is an interactive experience to demonstrate the various stages of bowel cancer. A walk through the bowel will help raise awareness of bowel cancer symptoms, the importance of taking part in screening and good bowel health.

Our roadshow gives people a chance to ask any questions or share any worries about bowel cancer to one of our friendly and experienced staff and volunteers.

Tuesday 24 September from 10am – 4pm outside Morrisons, Berwick Hills Centre, (Ormesby Road, TS3 7RP)

Wednesday 25 September from 10am – 4pm outside Hill Street Shopping Centre (1 Hill Street Shopping Centre, TS1 1SU)

Thursday 26 September from 10am – 4pm outside Hill Street Shopping Centre (1 Hill Street Shopping Centre, TS1 1SU)

Genevieve Edwards, Chief Executive at Bowel Cancer UK, said: “We’re really looking forward to talking to lots of people in Middlesbrough about the disease, the importance of knowing its symptoms, and why you should contact your GP as soon as you spot any signs. We'll be encouraging everyone who is eligible to take part in bowel cancer screening, and talking about how people can reduce their risk of developing bowel cancer.

“We know that awareness of bowel cancer and its symptoms is quite low in Middlesbrough, so we hope our giant inflatable bowel is a fun way to break the ice and start having those lifesaving conversations.

“We’re here to welcome everyone to a tour of the giant inflatable bowel, answer any questions you have about your bowel health, and signpost you for further support. No appointment necessary. See you inside!”
