Celebrities support people to make your brew count for everyone affected by bowel cancer
Thursday 1 July 2021
TV presenter Davina McCall, Chef Tony Singh and Baker Martha Collison are supporting the nation to get together this August and make your brew count by hosting a Brew Together fundraising event to raise money for bowel cancer.
We’re encouraging everyone to catch up with friends, family and colleagues over a cup of tea, either virtually or in person, and make a donation to the charity to help stop people dying of bowel cancer by funding vital services and lifesaving research.
Hoping to inspire fundraisers, celebrities Davina McCall, Tony Singh MBE and former Great British Bake Off contestant Martha Collison have donated their favourite recipes to have with a brew, including: bread and butter pudding, Bollywood bar and blueberry and almond muffins.
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK, with over 42,000 people diagnosed with the disease every year. More than 16,000 people die from bowel cancer every year in the UK, however the disease is treatable and curable especially if diagnosed early.
Luke Squires, Director of Fundraising at Bowel Cancer UK, said: “Every hour, four people will be diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK. By taking just an hour out of your day to hold a Brew Together event, your donations will ensure we can continue to help save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.”
