Beating bowel cancer together

Bowel Cancer UK launches impactful new look for a new era

Leading research charity Bowel Cancer UK is launching a fresh new look and corporate identity, with an impactful new website and logo.

The refreshed logo still incorporates the charity’s striking purple and green colours but now also includes the Star of Hope, the international symbol for bowel cancer.  It has been used by the charity for some time across its materials and has been very well received by patients and supporters.

Gus Baldwin, Director of External Affairs at Bowel Cancer UK, commented: “The Star of Hope is the symbol of hope for the future and for lives lost to bowel cancer and is used across the US and in several other countries. As patients are at the heart of what we do and this powerful symbol resonates so strongly with them, we wanted to make the Star of Hope central to our logo and identity.”

“During Bowel Cancer Awareness Month in April last year, we announced our ambitious new agenda to become the UK’s leading bowel cancer research charity. We have made fantastic progress since then.   So we feel that now it’s perfect timing to refresh our corporate identity with an updated and compelling brand which reflects our future strategic direction and positioning as the UK’s leading bowel cancer research charity.”

The charity will be introducing the new logo across all materials in the coming months as existing stocks run out and as our patient information comes up for renewal under the Information Standard certification which is usually every two years.

Bowel Cancer UK’s striking new website, bowelcanceruk.org.uk, has been developed by the charity with digital agency adido, in response to feedback from users of the website.

The new site has better functionality, easier navigation and, most importantly, is now responsive across mobiles and tablets. The charity’s new look and feel has been used to improve the layout and design to make it simpler for people to find what they are looking for.  In addition the website incorporates an exciting new range of merchandise which has been developed, featuring the Star of Hope.

Gus added: "Patients and supporters can now access our help and information on any device. We know that nearly 60% of visits to the site each month are from a mobile or tablet so this was a big gap for us which we had to fill. Naturally, we will be monitoring closely what impact the website redesign has on our ability to help more people affected by bowel cancer. It is very early days but we’re already getting fantastic feedback from people who are using the site."
