Never Too Young
Improving diagnosis, treatment and care for younger people with bowel cancer
Every year more than 2,900 younger people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK, and that number is increasing at a faster rate than older age groups.
You’re never too young to develop bowel cancer. But younger people can face particular challenges. Too many are diagnosed late, told they’re too young to have the disease or miss out on information and support that matters to them, including advice about fertility and family planning.
Our Never Too Young campaign is changing this.
Since 2013, we’ve:
- raised awareness of bowel cancer in younger people among the public and healthcare professionals
- campaigned to identify and support people at higher risk of developing the disease
- provided information and support for younger people affected by bowel cancer
- funded research into the challenges younger people face
- influenced changes to improve diagnosis, treatment and care
- We’ve achieved a great deal. But younger people with bowel cancer still aren’t always getting the timely diagnosis, treatment and support they need. We want to change that.
Share your experience
No one understands what it’s like to be diagnosed with bowel cancer at a younger age better than those directly affected.
We’re working with Digestive Cancers Europe on the first Europe-wide survey exploring the experiences of younger people with bowel cancer.
By sharing your experience, you can help us build a clearer picture of what needs to change. We’ll use the findings to shape the next phase of our work and campaign for better diagnosis, treatment and care.
