"Not recognising the seriousness of a symptom is one of the biggest reasons people delay seeking help with bowel cancer symptoms. The Department of Health's Be Clear on Cancer campaign aims to tackle this by improving awareness of cancer symptoms. GPs are at the heart of this campaign - speaking to the public in everyday language and encouraging them to see their GP early if they are worried about the symptoms in the campaign. The Royal College of General Practitioners supports this campaign to improve awareness of cancer, and increase early diagnosis of cancer.
