Roy Brown cycles over 300 miles in October to support his daughter
Roy Brown, 65 from Northern Ireland, wanted to cycle 65 miles in October to support his daughter who has been diagnosed with bowel cancer. He loved it so much, he carried on and cycled nearly 400 miles across the country.
My daughter has recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer at just 26 years old. I wanted to show my support for her by fundraising for the charity.
I’ve always loved cycling, and think nothing of spending all day cycling on country roads in my home town.
In October, I turned 65 and had the idea that I could cycle 65 miles every week to raise a few quid. I’m relatively fit and healthy for my age and it didn’t take me too long in the week to reach my target. I was absolutely loving it.
By the time it was 1 November, I had cycled nearly 400 miles and had raised an incredible £1,320.
My daughter is now in the middle of her chemotherapy treatment, and isn’t doing too bad.
