John takes on multiple challenges so others can be as lucky as him
John Miller was diagnosed with bowel cancer last year, and is now training for two huge challenges with his friends to raise much needed funds for us. He says:
After being diagnosed with bowel cancer in July 2019, I decided to take on a couple of challenges that I had always wanted to do to raise money for the vital work of Bowel Cancer UK.
I was very lucky that my dabble with bowel cancer was caught very early and I hope that the money raised through these two challenges will give someone else the chance to be as lucky as me as we know that EARLY DIAGNOSIS SAVES LIVES!
First, some friends and I are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on Saturday 19 September.
Obviously the current pandemic of coronavirus has hindered our training somewhat, but we are determined to carry on as planned and take on the challenge.

Then, the following month, we take on the Coast to Coast cycle ride from Morecambe to Scarborough between Friday 30 October and Sunday 1 November. We’ll be covering circa 170 miles ove the three days, following the Way of the Roses cycle route.

As daily exercise has been allowed throughout the lockdown period training has been going well for the Coast to Coast challenge. It has also added new riders to the team with a couple of friends taking up cycling during lockdown.
