Position: Head of Research
Reporting to: Director of Research and External Affairs
Salary: £46,000 (plus London weighting if applicable)
Location: Flexible – London office, hybrid or home based

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. We currently have around 70 staff based in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

There are huge challenges facing bowel cancer patients across the UK, and our community needs us now more than ever. We’re building a strong and united team to bring us closer to a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.

We have an exciting opportunity in our growing team for a Head of Research. Your team will bring to life our new research strategy, currently in development. Working closely with the Director of Research and External Affairs, you’ll be responsible for implementing the strategy by building on the strengths of our current research portfolio while developing new, innovative approaches to research support – both through direct grant giving, and indirect research support. You’ll also work with colleagues across the organisation to share the compelling story of our research impact.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced charity research professional, with a proven track record in forging research partnerships and developing funding programmes. As well as the confidence and personal authority to inspire your team, you’ll need to work collaboratively at a senior level with internal colleagues and external organisations, particularly with Trustees, Clinicians and academics.
