Meet our Step up for 30 superstars
Meet some of our wonderful supporters who are taking part in Step up for 30 and getting sponsored to do 30 minutes of physical activity every day for 30 days during June.
Exercise doesn't just have to be about working out in a gym. You could walk, swim, dance, run, cycle, do yoga - the choice is yours! Sign up for Step up for 30 today and choose the activity that suits you.
Cristina: "I’ve been a runner for many years and cancer was not going to stop me. It’s not how you exercise, it’s the fact that you make the effort that will have a positive impact."
Beth: "I decided to do the challenge to make sure I exercised for at least 30 minutes a day. For me it’s important to exercise to help with my cancer treatment, and improve my mental health. Raising money for Bowel Cancer UK at the same time was an added bonus!" Read more of Beth's story
Nadia Sawalha: “When I first started to exercise, it felt very daunting. So I started off with walking and then those ten minute walks turned into runs and later on they were marathons. Start small and then build your way up.”
Keith: I’d never been seriously ill before until I was diagnosed with Bowel and Rectal Cancer. Due to the amazing treatment from the NHS and the support available to me from Bowel Cancer UK, I just felt I had to give back something to the people that were doing all they could to help me survive and get treated. I also felt I needed to help raise awareness of the symptoms and treatment for bowel cancer which in turn could save lives.
Mr Motivator: “Both my wife and I are aware of bowel cancer and make sure to take our screening tests when they arrive every two years, but we also try and make lifestyle choices that lower our risk of developing bowel cancer. Exercise is obviously a huge part of my life but knowing the massive effect that just 30 minutes of exercise a day can have on my long term health, is a great extra motivator.”
