The evolution of pelvic exenteration surgery
This event took place on Wednesday 13 July 2022. You can catch up on the event here.
This virtual education event was developed to provide you with an overview of how pelvic exenterative surgery has developed over the last decade, which patients can benefit from this surgery and what the key considerations are when referring patients to exenterative units, both from a nursing and surgical perspective. The event provided a chance to reflect on the nursing role when caring for patients with locally advanced and recurrent colorectal cancer and discuss some of the unique challenges in this speciality.
We heard from speakers Ian Jenkins (Consultant Surgeon, St Mark's Hospital), Claire Taylor (Macmillan Nurse Consultant in Colorectal Cancer, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust) and Kelly Jones (Macmillan Total Pelvic Exenteration Clinical Nurse Specialist, Morriston Hospital/Ysbyty Treforys).
