Comedian Frank Skinner picks his favourite book for the Big Book Swap

Monday, September 12, 2011

So what's your favourite book and why does it inspire you?

Is it a fiction, non-fiction, an autobiography, comedy, a thriller, romance or perhaps poetry?

To help you think about it, we asked funny man Frank Skinner. Frank chose American Gods by Neil Gaiman and here's what he had to say about it.

"This was a life-changing book for me because it got me looking for the magic in people - the specialness in that bloke on the train or the woman in the cake shop! It's also a fabulous adventure that I was very sad to finish. I'm aching for the sequel."

Share your best loved book this October

Frank joins a host of famous faces who are urging the nation to dig out their favourite books this October and host a book swap to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK.

Hosting a Big Book Swap is easy

Hold one at home or at work and invite friends, family and colleagues to swap their favourite books. Why not hold a competition with colleagues submitting their favourite books and guessing whose is whose - there may be some surprises! Or, if you're part of a book club, use one of the meetings already in the diary. A suggested donation between £5 and £10 from those attending will ensure you raise lots for Bowel Cancer UK.
