Media statement in response to The King's Fund cancer survival
report
Report confirms continuing health inequalities for bowel cancer
patients in England
Bowel Cancer UK has issued the
following statement in response to The King's Fund new review: "How
to improve cancer survival: Explaining England's relatively poor
rates."
Deborah Alsina, Chief Executive of Bowel
Cancer UK said:" We are dismayed that this report confirms the
continuing health inequalities for bowel cancer patients in
England, in particular older people and those from deprived social
groups. We are also concerned that the gap in our survival rates
compared to the rest of Europe isn't narrowing, as it is for other
cancer types. We hope this damning report will encourage the NHS to
urgently redress this imbalance in care for cancer patients and
significantly improve outcomes for those most in need."
