Stars line up for The Big Book Swap

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

This October, X FACTOR and BBC Radio 2 presenter Dermot O'Leary is appealing for people across the country to dig out their favourite books and help raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK.

To Kill a Mockingbird is Dermot's favourite book and he joins a host of famous faces who are urging the nation to get involved in the Big Book Swap including comedian Frank Skinner, writer and performer Stella Duffy, musician Frank Turner and actress Jane Asher.

TV presenter Dermot O'Leary said: "It's a cliché but To Kill a Mockingbird is my favourite book and features my greatest fictional hero of all time. It is a coming of age, moralistic tale of always doing the right thing".

Hosting a book swap is easy. Having one at home is the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends or why not get together with work colleagues to share your favourite books? Get everyone to make a donation and then pass on the proceeds to Bowel Cancer UK.

Deborah Alsina, Chief Executive, explained: "Many of the patients and families we have helped have shared how certain books have changed their lives. They have drawn strength from them and reading has helped them to stay positive during their treatment. So get hold of your favourite book, organise a Big Book Swap in October and raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK at the same time!"

To hold a Big Book Swap any time during October get hold of a fundraising pack now from the website or call 020 7386 4006.
