Julia Bradbury becomes a patron

Wednesday, September 07, 2011

TV presenter Julia Bradbury, (Countryfile, Wainwright Walks and Canal Walks) has become a Patron of Bowel Cancer UK.

Julia, who divides her time between Rutland and London, is very passionate about raising awareness of bowel cancer as her own mother has had the disease.

Julia said: "I'm delighted to become a Patron for Bowel Cancer UK. So many people are continuing to die needlessly from this disease. Early diagnosis is crucial, and the survival rates are high if this cancer is identified in time. Regular exercise and a good diet help to reduce the risks of bowel cancer."

"I urge anyone who is concerned about the disease affecting them or their loved ones to call the Bowel Cancer UK helpline or make an appointment to visit their G.P. today. Our family have had personal experience dealing with all the issues and emotions surrounding bowel cancer as our mother was diagnosed earlier in the year. She is now on the road to recovery", added Julia.

Deborah Alsina, CEO, Bowel Cancer UK said: "We are delighted that Julia has agreed to become a Patron of Bowel Cancer UK. With Julia as a Patron we hope to reach even more people who are not aware of the symptoms of bowel cancer and what everyone can do to reduce their risk of getting the disease."
