Working with politicians

As Ministers, MPs and politicians from all parties become more engaged by bowel cancer, so our work with them is increasing. We're doing all we can to ensure that politicians are aware of the issues that affect patients and carers and are active on their behalf, working with us to bring about positive change and improve patients' experience of the disease.

Campaigning on behalf of patients

As bowel cancer patients become more active about the issues that concern them, so Bowel Cancer UK has increased its campaigning activity on their behalf.

We are already campaigning, for example, for greater access to treatment for patients; for greater bowel cancer awareness on behalf of the young; for hard to reach groups to have greater access to bowel cancer information; and for the screening programme to roll-out more quickly.

We are keen to develop our campaigning services and to further respond to the needs of patients and carers.

Reaching other groups

In addition to younger people, we are developing plans to target other hard to reach groups, including ethnic minorities, mental health service users and people living in isolated or deprived communities.
